Yesterday, the China State Forestry Administration announced that China's
forest acreage reached 175 million hectares, with a forest coverage rate
of 18.21% and a forest storage of 12.456 billion cubic meters. The
country's man-made forest ranks first in the world. However, the forest
coverage is only equivalent to 61.52% of the average in the world,
ranking No. 130. It is the first time that the Chinese government has
released information on current forest resources in the last five years.
